Bulgaria’s prime minister says drones sank two ships in the Black Sea

Situation Overview

On 13 October, Bulgaria’s prime minister, Rumen Radev, said drones attacked two ships in the Black Sea and that one vessel sank, while the other also sank after further drone strikes. Radev said the first commercial ship was hit about 33 kilometres from Bulgaria’s coast, and the second was attacked near the village of Krapets, about 31 kilometres from shore. After the attacks, Bulgaria summoned the Russian ambassador in Sofia. The report did not provide details on the cargo, the identities of the ships, or any market or economic effects.
